Tulsi (Holy Basil): A Daily Ritual in Indian Homes
13 Oct 2026 · Ishaan Chaudhary

Tulsi, or holy basil, holds a special place in Indian homes. Many families grow a tulsi plant in the courtyard, and its leaves are a familiar part of teas, kadhas and daily rituals.
Tulsi in tradition
Tulsi has been part of traditional Indian wellness routines for a very long time. Its warm, slightly peppery aroma makes it a comforting addition to drinks, especially during the colder months and changing seasons.
Three tulsi varieties you may hear about
- Rama tulsi: green leaves and a mild, cooling flavour.
- Krishna tulsi: purple-tinged leaves and a stronger, peppery taste.
- Vana tulsi: a wild variety with a fresh, lemony aroma.
Making tulsi part of your routine
- Take a serving of Respira Tulsi Juice mixed with lukewarm water, as directed on the label.
- Enjoy fresh tulsi leaves in herbal tea with ginger and a little honey.
- Pair it with good daily habits: fresh air, regular movement and enough rest.
A quick note
Tulsi juice is a wellness/food product and is not a medicine. If you have a medical condition, are pregnant or take medication, consult a qualified healthcare professional before use.
